Jay Barnes Selected New CCC President

It is our privilege to announce that Jay Barnes will step into the Christian College Consortium Presidency on July 1, 2020. Since 1995, Jay has held leadership positions at Bethel University, serving as president from 2008-2020 and provost from 1995-2008. Prior to his time at Bethel, Jay held student life positions at both Messiah College and Wheaton College, and served as teacher and principal at Black Forest Academy in Kandern, Germany. Jay will be the 8th President of the Christian College Consortium, since its inception in 1971. We are delighted with this appointment and deeply grateful to Jay and Barb Barnes for their service and leadership in Christian higher education. –Executive Committee, Board of Directors, Christian College Consortium.

Kevin J. Brown Selected as Asbury’s New President

Dr. Kevin J. Brown assumed the presidency after serving as associate dean of Asbury’s Howard and Beverly Dayton School of Business (DSB). Brown earned the Ph.D. from Glasgow University, Scotland, after earning the BA and MBA from the University of Indianapolis, MLitt from University of St. Andrews University, Scotland Bringing a breadth of experience to the presidency with an academic background spanning business, theology and ethics, Brown served as a bank president before transitioning to higher education as a business and economics professor. His wife, Maria, is coordinator of Intercultural Affairs at Asbury. The Browns have three children–Cambel, Ada and Oliver.

Paige Comstock Cunningham Appointed Taylor’s Interim President

Taylor University named Michael D. Hammond, dean of the School of Humanities, Art and Biblical Studies to replace outgoing Provost Jeff Moshier effective June 1. Moshier’s most rewarding experience as provost has been recruiting new faculty and helping equip them for their ministry roles. As of this year, Moshier will have recruited 67 faculty members. Moshier and President P Lowell Haines have been helping prepare Hammond for his new role as provost. “Dr. Hammond is a wonderful colleague,” Moshier said. “I was thrilled to recruit him back to Taylor…I think God has been preparing him for this role for his entire life.” Hammond holds the B.A. from Taylor, M.A. from Wheaton, and Ph.D. from University of Arkansas. He hopes to harmonize academics and discipleship and prioritize servant leadership. Michael and his wife Jen have six children.

Timothy Wooster Appointed Provost at Asbury University

Dr. Timothy T. Wooster has assumed the position of Provost at Asbury University. Having previously served as provost and chief executive officer at Eastern Nazarene College, Dr. Wooster’s broad experience in higher education also includes service as chemistry professor, research consultant, honors program director, director of institutional research and retention, associate dean for academic affairs, vice president for enrollment and institutional researach, academic dean, and chief operating officer. He graduated from Eastern Nazarene with a B.S. in chemistry, and earned his Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, with post doctoral studies at the University of Vermont. Wooster and his wife, Elizabeth, have two children: Luke and Ruth, both recent college graduates.

Vechery Scholarship Recipients for 2019-20
