Ryken on Friday, September 17, 2010 at 3 p.m. The ceremony is one of several events being held on campus to celebrate the inauguration.

Dr. Ryken, a 1988 graduate of Wheaton, assumed the presidency July 1st, following the retirement of Dr. Duane Litfin, who had served as Wheaton’s president since 1993. Ryken is the eighth president in Wheaton’s 150-year history.

Prior to his arrival at Wheaton this summer, Dr. Ryken served as Senior Minister at Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia since 1995, as well on the Wheaton College and Westminster Theological Seminary (PA) Boards of Trustees.

In addition to earning his Bachelor of Arts in English literature and philosophy from Wheaton in 1988, Dr. Ryken also earned a Master of Divinity from Westminster Theological Seminary and a Doctorate of Philosophy in historical theology at Oxford University. He has taught and lectured at universities and seminaries worldwide, and he is widely published. Dr. Ryken and his wife, Lisa, who also graduated from Wheaton in 1988, have five children who range in age from 5 to 17.
